PPE Compliance Checklist for Aerospace MRO and Defence Facilities in India

7 July 2026 · 6 min read

PPE procurement for aerospace MRO and defence manufacturing environments carries different stakes than general industrial safety supply. The wrong glove material can react with a solvent. The wrong respirator rating leaves a technician exposed during a chemical process it wasn't built for. And in facilities that undergo customer or regulatory audits, PPE traceability and documentation are frequently part of what gets reviewed. This checklist covers what to verify before you finalize a PPE supplier or product.

Chemical Compatibility First

Before anything else, PPE selection for aerospace and MRO work needs to start from the chemicals and processes it will be used around — not from a generic safety catalogue. Nitrile gloves resist a different set of solvents than latex; some aerospace sealants and cleaning agents will degrade certain glove materials on contact. Always cross-check the glove or suit material's chemical resistance chart against the specific chemicals used in your process, not just a general 'chemical resistant' label.

A Practical Sourcing Checklist

  • Confirm the specific standard the PPE is rated to (e.g. relevant IS/EN/OSHA classifications) and that it matches your facility's safety requirements, not just a general safety claim
  • For respirators and PAPR systems, verify the protection factor and filter type match the actual airborne hazard — particulates, vapours, or both
  • For gloves, check chemical resistance against your specific process chemicals, not a generic compatibility chart
  • Ask whether the PPE is sourced through an OEM-authorized channel with COA documentation, particularly for safety-critical items
  • For cleanroom-adjacent work, confirm PPE is rated for the applicable ISO cleanroom classification and won't introduce particulate contamination
  • Check shelf life and storage requirements for disposable and consumable PPE — coveralls and respirator cartridges often have expiry dates that get missed in bulk storage

Documentation Your EHS Team Will Want on File

  • Manufacturer datasheets and compliance certificates for each PPE category in use
  • Batch/lot records for safety-critical items, so a recall or quality issue can be traced back
  • A record of the supplier's authorization status for the brands supplied

Common Sourcing Mistakes to Avoid

  • Buying on price alone for chemical-exposure PPE, where the wrong material can fail exactly when it matters
  • Treating PPE as a one-time bulk purchase rather than an ongoing supply relationship — expiry dates and evolving process chemicals both change requirements over time
  • Not verifying brand authenticity for PPE sourced through unfamiliar channels, especially for imported brands
Sri Ekaa Solutions supplies nitrile and latex gloves, respirators and PAPR systems, safety helmets, and disposable coveralls from brands including 3M, Ansell, MSA, and DuPont Tyvek — sourced through OEM-authorized channels with full documentation for aerospace, defence, and industrial buyers.
